A Touch of Club Class

from The Jo Good Column

...The other highlight of the weekend was Saturday night. After a slow start at one club and a blatant "you're not getting in here" at North, my "gang" and I found ourselves at Tangled at The Phoenix.

Well, what can I say... we had a BLINDER! I haven't had so much fun in ages. We were treated wonderfully well at the door (a rarity at some clubs) and the music was wicked. Best of all, though, was the crowd. It is so sad that many clubs in our wonderful city seem to be lacking that all-important element that is "atmosphere" at the moment.

I am lucky enough to have been to lots and lots of great club nights and made many mad trips to a certain Balearic island, and in my humnble opinion, it doesn't matter how cool the club is or how famous the DJ, if the crowd isn't having fun. At the Phoenix they were lovin' it!

To my mind clubbing is about letting off steam, about going crazy. If you are a classy clubber who likes to dress up in Prada and surround yourself with "sophisticated" people the you are lucky, because you have a zillion bars and nights to choose from right now.

But, if you like to wear massive pink pants (yes that was me) and get "down and dirty" then I heartily advise you to get yourself down to The Phoenix for Tangled on a Saturday. I am only ashamed it has taken me so long to make the discovery. Now I am addicted!
