Kids will do anything for it

Without the assistance of financial backing, any advertising or weekly big-name guests, club night Tangled has endeared itself to Manchester's clubbing fraternity to the point of becming a veritable institution.

Driven py the passion of its residents Phil Morse, Terry Pointon and Steve Thorpe, the night has exceeded the lifespan of any other dance weekly the city has known. Its followers are among the most loyal patrons of any club, and for many long-term supporters, Tangled remains their only regular clubbing experience.

Next Friday witnesses the start of the celebrations with the residents offering a retrospective of the classics that have defined the club's sound. Part two of the party occurs the following night, with guests Lange and Rascal supplementing the main room's trancetastic soundtrack, while Mekon, Nick Dent and Mallina appear upstairs in the breaks bar, which, under Thorpe's guidance, has become the country's longest running breaks weekly. All in all a tremendous achievement.
